A Nationally Recognized Texas Main Street City on the first Thursday of each month. DESIGN.

The City of Mount Pleasant was selected by the Texas Historical Commission to become an official Texas Main Street City in 1993. A nine-member advisory committee leads the activities of the Mount Pleasant Main Street Program and meets at 8:15 a.m. The Main Street Program offers a four-point approach to downtown revitalization that has been successful in more than 1,000 towns and cities throughout

America.

1. ORGANIZATION involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.

2. PROMOTION positions the downtown or commercial district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics.

3. Design supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart.

4. ECONOMIC VITALITY focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies.

Come see us Saturday, June 13 from 9 to 2, for our Father’s Day themed Second Saturday. Downtown will be active and it is a reliable place to pick up something solid for Dad.

Food trucks and vendors will be on the courthouse square, with more set up in shops around downtown. Plan to walk, browse, and buy something to bring home from Second Saturday

Vendors will set up in the parking lot across from Joe’s, and food trucks will be in the courthouse parking lot on Second Street. We will not be blocking off Second Street.
We will not assign spots as this will be a first-come, first-served setup. We will have cones to block off where food trucks and vendors will park.

Come downtown to walk, shop, and eat local! 9AM to 2PM

✨Business Spotlight-Laura's Cheesecake✨

Founded in 1989 by Mrs. Laura Bass, Laura’s Cheesecake began as a way to share family recipes and bring the community together. In 2021, after months of sharing weekly meals, a few trips and lot of laughter and life together, Mitchell and Suzanne Walker partnered with their friends Richard and Janie Witherspoon to purchase Laura’s and carry on Mrs. Laura’s legacy. Together, they are committed to using her original recipe and continuing the tradition of service with an extra measure of goodness and love.

In January 2023, Mitchell and Suzanne’s son, Chris Pearson, joined the team as Vice President of Operations, bringing fresh vision and energy to Laura’s. Chris has led exciting growth opportunities, including a new wholesale partnership where cheesecake slices produced in Laura’s bakery will be sold at The State Fair of Texas and in Costco stores across the state beginning this November.

Laura’s is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside family, friends, and their amazing community to share goodness and love — not only in Mount Pleasant, but now across the great state of Texas.
