New Year - New Medicare Plan, is your Medicare plan meeting your expectations? If not, did you know you may be able to change Medicare plans after Annual Enrollment?
There are two opportunities when you may be able to change your plan:
1) Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period
2) Special Enrollment Period of qualifying life events
Not sure if you fit in either of those categories. Ask yourself -
Am I currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan?
Between January 1 to March 31st you have an opportunity to:
- Switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan
- Drop a Medicare Advantage plan and go back to the Original Medicare
- Join a part D prescription drug plan (if you qualify)
Have I experienced a qualifying life event?
If you have a qualifying event you may change your Medicare plan during a special 2 month period. These include:
- Moving our of your current Medicare plan's service area
- Your Medicare plan stops serving your area or loses it contract with Medicare
- Lose creditable rug coverage through no fault of your own
- Lose retiree, union or COBRA coverage
Do not feel stuck in your current Medicare plan, there may be options for you.
