Last night at the Colquitt County FFA Banquet (one of my favorite things to attend) the first recipient of the Coleman-Yearta scholarship Christie Deariso spoke on the significance of the award towards her college career. She started off at Northern Oklahoma College on a partial livestock judging scholarship earning two associate degrees. She then transferred to UGA and became a member of the Meat Dawgs (the meats judging team) and is thoroughly enjoying her new found love. The scholarship is allowing her to attend the colleges and universities of her choice and she is very grateful.

Also in the picture is Kirk Beacham who is on the scholarship committee. Kirk was very active in the FFA program, attended ABAC for two years and then graduated from UGA with an Ag Communications degree. He would love for Colquitt County to be his permanent home and hopes to find a job locally working in media, social media or marketing.

These are just two of the many examples our local FFA program has produced over the 93 years of Colquitt County FFA. Many thanks to all the advisors for their hard work throughout the year giving these students an opportunity to grow and succeed in life. And congratulations to this years scholarship recipient Harley Walker.

We celebrated today!
Lynn Gandy has been at the Brent Chitty State Farm agency for 29 years and Claudia Malagon has been here for 17 years. They have taken a few phone calls, set up a few claims and handled a few transactions over that period of time.
I can honestly say that our agency would not be what it is today without the help of these two dedicated ladies. I am very appreciative of the time and effort they put into serving our customers. Thank you Lynn and Claudia.
