The Fed is taking a wait-and-see approach to rate cuts. At their May meeting, the Board described current stability yet increased uncertainty for the future. They held rates at their current level and will base future decisions on incoming data. The Fed doesn't control mortgage rates directly, and economic or geopolitical events are more likely to have an impact on mortgage rates at this time.
