🚨 STOP HITTING OUR PLOWS. 🚨 64 - That is how many times a vehicle has crashed into a NYSDOT snowplow so far this winter.

Let’s be clear. These are not “accidents.”

They happen because drivers are going too fast for conditions, following too closely, or trying to pass a more than 10-ton machine that is clearing the road for everyone else.

Every time a plow is hit:
• Lives are put at risk. Ours and yours.
• A plow is taken off the road for repair.
• Taxpayer dollars are wasted on damage that was preventable.

Our plow operators are out there in the worst conditions so others can get where they need to go safely. Slow down. Stay back. Let 64 be the final number.

Otsego County DMV Announces Temporary Closure and Modified Operations due to Statewide Software Transition.

The Otsego County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), along with all DMV offices across New York State, will be implementing a new statewide software system that requires a significant data migration.

In February, the New York State DMV is implementing the initial phase of a multi-year project to replace and modernize its aging technology systems. To bring the first part of the new system online, the state is ceasing all DMV operations, including online transactions and their phone system at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026. In order to prepare for this statewide transition, the Cooperstown DMV will be closed on Friday, February 13.

The offices will remain closed Monday, February 16 which is the Presidents Day holiday, Tuesday, February 17 and Wednesday, February 18, with a planned reopening on Thursday, February 19 (Cooperstown Main Office ONLY) provided we receive the go-ahead from State DMV leadership.

The Oneonta Satellite location will not be open the week of February 16.
