Back in the 80's, I was so envious of Valerie Bertinelli! She had it all - a hit TV show, beautiful, smart, and married to Rocker Eddie Van Halen! And now I am envious because she is eligible for Medicare in April! She can sign up for Medicare between today and the end of July.

Medicare announced the 2025 rates this week. Part B premium increased to $185.00 and the Part B annual deductible (important to folks on a MediGap Plan) will be $257. Beneficiaries who's Adjusted Gross Income was greater than $106K for singles and $212K for married people will pay higher rates, which are available on the CMS website.

MEDICARE SCAM ALERT -
I just received a call from a "local number", the call started by telling me all the great benefits available to people on Medicare and asked if I had Medicare. I lied and said yes - then "Jeff" who sounded like he was calling from a large call center came on the phone. When I asked where he worked he hung up on me!
Please remember:
The "extra benefits" you see advertised are often only available to people on Medicare and Medicaid (aka Medi-Cal), or they are available to people who have chronic health conditions like diabetes or heart disease. The plans did not verify chronic conditions in 2024 but they will be verifying in 2025.
All insurance brokers must get explicit permission to contact you - this form is called a "Scope of Appointment".
Finally, NEVER give your Medicare number or Social Security number to anyone who calls you. The goal of these people is to change your insurance so they can collect the commissions.

In 1984 and 1988, American Diver Greg Louganis won 4 gold medals for diving, but more importantly, Mr. Louganis turns 65 January 2025.
