Come on folks vote for your favorite local star!!!

VOTING HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!!!!!
Here’s what you need to know:
1. $1 = 1 Vote! (You can vote as much as you want…$10 = 10 votes, $50 = 50 votes, etc)
2. 50% of the overall championship mirror ball trophy is based on YOUR VOTES!
3. To vote…simply send your $ through Venmo () or through Apple Pay (606-776-4381), or via Check (made out to NEXUS Pointe Booster Club)
4. IMPORTANT! - Make sure you state clearly who you are voting for…in Venmo you can put it in the message, through Apple Pay you can send it in a text, or you can write it in the memo of the check. The Mother Goose is returning home this morning after it fell off back in March. Dakota Makres WYMT will have updates later live on Facebook. Make sure you tune in to Mountain News beginning at 4:00 to see all of the excitement!

When we discontinued the use of the Rowan County COVID-19 Reporting Dashboard back in May, I said that if the situation changed that we would keep you informed of the situation and address safety concerns as they come along. I told you last week that the situation was beginning to look grimmer as we edged closer to the start of the school year, and I regret to inform you that the situation has worsened somewhat.

Moving forward, we will be issuing a weekly dashboard on Thursday evenings unless something significant changes. The situation has steadily deteriorated these past three weeks, so I thought it necessary to provide you with this tool once again to help make decisions. As you can see, we’re at the top of the yellow classification, and one case away this week from being in the orange classification.

If you haven’t already, now would be a good time to get your vaccine. They are readily available at almost any pharmacy or doctor’s office. If you somehow haven’t had the opportunity yet to sit down and talk with someone who has had this virus, they would assure you that it is a miserable time. With kids returning to school in a few short weeks, we want our community to be in good shape so that they can have a normal school year. Our kids really have been the ones who have bared the brunt of this situation. Closing I’ll say that getting the shot isn’t politics, it’s just a personal choice, but it’s a good choice I think for yourself and for your county.

Everybody stay safe, and we hope we have better news to report next Thursday.
