On June 4, President Tim Wall presented a 250th Commemorative Betsy Ross Flag and certificate to Newport Historical Museum. The flag is number 6,420 of the 10,000 WoodmenLife purchased and distributed across the country. Susan Davis, Museum President, received the flag and certificate.

President Tim Wall presented a check for $1,000 to Holly Springs Christian Academy on May 17. The check was received by Pastor Michael J. Coombs. The school has been in operation on Nine Foot Road in Newport for 5 years. Plans were to close the school, but Holly Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church, where the school is located, decided to take over its operation so the students and teachers will be able to continue this fall. Chapter 1513's contribution is in response to a request for seed money to help with this process and make our community a better place.

Chapter 1513 will meet on Thursday June 11 at the Sagebrush Restaurant in Morehead City at noon in the meeting room. All members of Chapter 1513 are invited to attend, but please RSVP as seating may be limited. Bring a nonperishable item for our food collection.

On May 7, a check for $5,000 was presented to the Newport Historical Museum to go toward the replacement of the heating system. The Museum is located in the historic Teacherage built in 1926 and located across from Newport Elementary School on Chatham Street. The Museum has a display of WoodmenLife artifacts.

Chapter 1513 will meet on Thursday May 21 at the Sagebrush Restaurant in Morehead City at noon.
