The perfectionist who hides behind passive-aggression is a ticking time bomb in any office.
In my workshops we explore how they set impossible standards, but instead of communicating those expectations clearly, they punish everyone around them with silence, sarcasm, or subtle sabotage when things don’t go perfectly. It’s a toxic cocktail of high-stakes anxiety and low-stakes communication.
If you’re a manager, stop trying to dance around it.
You need the courage to have the hard conversation. We practice having that conversation. Be brief. Be honest. State the impact, set the expectation, and end it.
Don’t let the tension linger. Don’t wait for them to "get the hint." Just address it, move on, and get back to work.
