September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, which makes this a good time to ask a question most of us don't think about very often: When was the last time you actually looked at your life insurance? Not just whether you have a policy, but whether what you have still makes sense for your life today. Maybe you bought coverage years ago. Maybe you have something through work. Maybe your family, income, mortgage, debt, or responsibilities have changed since then. Or maybe life insurance has lived comfortably on your “I'll deal with that later” list for longer than you'd care to admit. You don't need to spend September obsessing over insurance. I certainly don't expect you to. But knowing what you have, what it does, and whether it still fits the people and responsibilities you're protecting is worth a conversation.
