The largest of its kind in the Museum’s history, this exhibition celebrates the dramatic growth of MAM’s collection of works by Black artists. Ranging from James Van Der Zee’s historic photograph Black Red Cross March, Harlem (1924), to Nanette Carter’s Destabilizing #2 (2022), the show features the depth, breadth, and variety of art by African Americans during the past century.

The Century, at the Montclair Art Museum is curated by Adrienne L. Childs, Ph.D, Senior Consulting Curator, Phillips Collection, and independent curator nico w. okoro, MA. and accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue with multiple essays.

This beauty, The Seraphim, by artist, Ananais Roberts (), is destined for Il Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona Spain.
Congratulations, Sir!
Ananais is an alumnus of the , in Johannesburg, SA.
The Sagrada Familia will be the world's tallest basilica in the world when finished in 2026. It will have taken over 100 years to complete. Even now, unfinished, it is miraculously beautiful.
I can't tell you how proud I am that The Pope and I both have Ananias' work in our collections.
