New Jersey adopted a state-level individual mandate requiring NJ taxpayers to be covered under a minimum essential coverage plan (MEC) during each month of the year. Beginning January 1, 2019, New Jersey will require its residents to maintain health insurance.

The law requires residents to have minimum essential health coverage throughout 2019 and beyond, unless they qualify for an exemption.

Failure to have health coverage or qualify for an exemption will result in a Shared Responsibility Payment when the 2019 New Jersey Income Tax return is filed.

The following are examples of what the payment could be:

Individual taxpayer:

Minimum: $695 to a maximum of $3,012
Family with two adults and three dependents and household income of $200,000 or below:
Minimum: $2,085 to a maximum of $4,500
Note: Household income is the income of all members in a household, including dependents.

Despite a ruling from a Texas judge, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is still in place and it is business as usual. Although the individual mandate has been eliminated on the federal level, New Jersey will impose the penalty for individuals who do not have minimum essential coverage beginning in 2019.

For now the ACA remains in effect.

Here’s something you don’t hear often: the cost of health care coverage in New Jersey is actually going down! That’s right. Rates for many New Jersey plans in the Healthcare.gov marketplace are cheaper for 2019 than they were in 2018.

But you can’t get these savings if you don’t enroll by December 15th. Go to Healthcare.gov now and sign up.

If you or someone you know don’t get health benefits from your employer or through a federal program like Medicare, you must sign up for health insurance coverage by December 15th. Go to Healthcare.gov now—every plan includes quality coverage for pre-existing conditions, prescription drug benefits, access to specialists and more.

Don’t wait. The deadline is right around the corner. Get online. Make the call.

Congratulations! The 2019 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period has been shortened from 90 days to 45 days (November 1- December 15, 2018), and the advertising budget to promote open enrollment has been slashed in an effort to further sabotage the program.

That's why you're seeing zero advertising about the enrollment window. We are posting this and using the word congratulations so it gets posted more frequently, via the FB algorithms.

The 2019 Open Enrollment Period runs from Thursday, November 1, 2018, to Saturday, December 15, 2018. If you don't act by December 15, you can't get 2019 coverage unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Plans sold during Open Enrollment start January 1, 2019.

Please ***copy and paste*** (not share) and post publicly on your own timeline to help spread the word. Also, comment on the posts you see to bump them up in feeds.

Someone you know may desperately need health care and the smaller the pool, the higher the premiums, which is exactly the opposite of what was intended when the ACA was passed.

The New Jersey Health Insurance Preservation Act (A3380) has been signed inot law by Govenor Murphy, making New Jersey the second state to i
mplement an individual mandate. The implementation of the mandate is expected to bring in $90-100 million in revenue generated from penalities which will be used to fund the state's reinsurance program.

With the federal government zeroing out the indiviudal mandate penalty, the New Jersey legislature became concerned it would adversity affect the market. According to legislators, with 90% of New Jersey's population being insured, A3380 will keep the market stable.

The mandate will go into effect January 1, 2019.
