Do you know the signs of "Catfishing?" This is when criminals create false identities using fraudulent information and images, then attempt to attract people through dating and messaging apps as well as social media. Here are some techniques to watch out for:
1. Pays attention to the details you share, and tailors themselves to you.
2. Pretends to be a celebrity or someone you have previously known.
3. Presents a scenario soliciting help or offering a great opportunity.
4. Eventually asks for money or your involvement in an investment.
5. "Love bombing" manipulation through excessive attention.
6. Will not meet you in person.
7. Gets evasive or defensive when you ask direct questions.
8. Tend to target people who are emotionally vulnerable.
