We started our “2 to the Town” initiative, and it couldn’t come at a better time!
When we opened agency giving back to our community wasn’t in question, it was the “how” that I couldn’t grasp. I wanted us to be deeply connected to our engagement in ways that writing a check couldn’t offer but we also had to like…run a business. The concept that an office rooted in servitude begets happy customers kept nagging at me though for weeks on end.
Then it hit me - every team member (myself included) would be required to volunteer each month at various in our community. Even just volunteering 2 hours a month each would slow down the fast paced nature of a scratch insurance agency allowing us to take a moment to be grateful for what we have. I’ve learned, the best attitude is gratitude!
This month we started with Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, New Jersey which is a wonderful non profit providing food and clothing to those in need in Essex County NJ. This organization is absolutely AMAZING!!! The work they do is undervalued and thankless, but you couldn’t tell when walking in. Everyone was so giving of their time and just a blessing to be around with their full smiles and giving spirits.
Truthfully, I needed to take a step back. To hit the reset button and reflect on all my blessings. There is something uniquely gratifying about being a and I love every minute of it!
