Do solar panels raise your premium, lower it, or leave it untouched? It doesn't change it at all.
Solar panels fall under dwelling extension, the same coverage that applies to your garage, fence, or pool. The question isn't whether you're covered, it's whether that limit is high enough. The default is usually around 10% of your dwelling replacement cost, and increasing it is relatively inexpensive.
If your home's rebuild cost is $500,000, that's $50,000 in dwelling extension coverage, and everything attached to or detached from the house, garage, fence, pool, solar panels, all draws from that same limit. Make sure it's enough to cover all of it combined, not just the panels.
