A Certificate of Insurance DOES NOT mean coverage.

This is one of the most common (and risky) misunderstandings we see.

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) shows coverage exists. A binder creates coverage.

Sending a COI before coverage is actually in place? That’s where problems start. Misrepresentation, E&O exposure, and unnecessary risk.

If coverage isn’t finalized, you need a binder. Simple as that.
