ā€œSome cowboys are born on screen… but Jake Ream was already living it.ā€ 🤠

Before Yellowstone ever hit our screens, Jake Ream was the real deal — a horseman, a rancher, a cowboy shaped by dust, sweat, and the wide-open West. When Taylor Sheridan set out to make Yellowstone authentic, he didn’t just cast Jake… he brought him in to teach the cast what being a cowboy truly meant.

At first, Jake was behind the scenes — showing actors how to rope, ride, and carry themselves like men of the land. But little by little, he stepped into the bunkhouse himself. And now, fans know him simply as ā€œJakeā€ — the easy-smiling, steady-handed cowboy whose presence grounds every scene in something real.

What makes his story unforgettable is this: Jake never chased fame. He just lived his life, and in doing so, gave Yellowstone its soul. Every perfect ride, every breathtaking stampede carries a piece of his truth.

Goodbye, Ross

Goodbye, Ross

Goodbye, Ross

ā€œRoss wasn’t just a cowboy in Yellowstone he was the voice of every old hand who gave his life to the saddle.ā€

Ross, played by Barry Corbin, appeared only briefly in Season 2 of Yellowstone, but the words he shared with Jimmy left a lasting mark. In the eyes of this old cowboy, you could see an entire lifetime spent with horses, the prairie wind, and the harsh solitude of a cowboy’s life.

He didn’t need fancy speeches, just a few simple lines revealed the raw truth: the life of a cowboy is not about glory, but about sweat, scars, and sacrifices few will ever know.

In real life, Barry Corbin is himself an icon of classic Western roles. For decades, he has embodied characters that carry the soul of the West, and through Ross, he gave Yellowstone a moment both authentic and sacred, a reminder that being a cowboy is not an image, but a way of life.

Ross may have been a small character, but he was a great soul. He was the bridge between the cowboys of the past and those of today, between legend and truth. 🤠

Cole Hauser, known for his role as the stoic yet fiercely loyal Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone, is also known behind the scenes for his sense of humor and love of playful pranks. One particularly funny story involves him pulling a lighthearted prank on his good friend and co-star, Forrie J. Smith, who plays the seasoned cowboy Lloyd Pierce.

During a break in filming, Cole noticed that Forrie, who prides himself on his authentic cowboy image, had left his iconic cowboy hat unattended in the crew area. Seizing the opportunity, Cole decided to add a little flair to Forrie’s trusted hat. He grabbed some bright pink feathers and a few glittery stickers from the props department and carefully decorated the hat, making it look more like something out of a Vegas rodeo than the rugged plains of Montana.

When Forrie returned, he grabbed his hat without noticing the changes and walked onto the set, ready for the next scene. It wasn’t until the entire crew burst into laughter that he realized something was off. Forrie looked up, confused, and saw Cole grinning mischievously in the corner.

Always a good sport, Forrie tipped his bedazzled hat to the crew and quipped, ā€œWell, I reckon Lloyd’s got a new look now. Maybe Rip’s trying to make a fashion statement for the bunkhouse.ā€ The moment had everyone in stitches, including Forrie himself.
Later, Forrie got his revenge by sneaking an extra-large, floppy sombrero into Cole’s wardrobe trailer as a ā€œreplacementā€ for Rip’s usual hat. The prank exchange became a running joke between the two, bringing levity to the intense filming days and further cementing their bond as not just co-stars, but true cowboy comrades.
