When Taylor Langley took a part-time receptionist job at an insurance agency in 2020, she didn’t intend to find her career. But as she watched clients gain peace of mind through the right coverage, something clicked.

That first-hand look at how insurance can truly help people motivated her to pursue it full-time, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Today, Taylor is a Personal Lines Producer at Schneider Insurance. She’s known for her ability to explain coverage clearly and connect with clients on a personal level.

“Building relationships with clients is my favorite part of the job,” she says. “I want every person I work with to leave our conversations feeling informed and secure in their decisions.”

Today, we celebrate 40 years with Richard Schneider.

He came up in the era of carbon copy forms, printed rate books, and Rolodexes. Since then, much has changed from online rating, instant quotes, and even a little thing called the World Wide Web.

But one thing has always remained: his dedication to those around him. To know Richard is to know he has a heart of gold.

We dug deep in the archives and found this photo: Richard adding the school commute to his then 10-year career. It is a snapshot of those times when career milestones and family milestones happen side-by-side.

In a recent Insurance Journal article, Carl Schneider weighs in on the rising push for hurricane-resilient construction across the Gulf Coast.

The piece explores how the FORTIFIED program goes beyond building codes. It requires tougher materials and more rigorous inspections, which lead to fewer claims, lower premiums, and safer communities.

Shopping for business insurance? Here’s one thing you need to ask:

Is this policy from an admitted or non-admitted carrier?

If that sounds like insurance-speak, here’s the quick version:
👉 Admitted carriers are licensed and regulated by the state.
👉 Non-admitted (surplus lines) carriers are not.

And this difference matters more than you might think.

Surplus lines carriers are important for certain types of businesses, like brand new startups, high-risk trades (roofing, demolition, etc.), or companies that have trouble getting approved elsewhere.

But if your business can qualify for admitted coverage? That’s almost always the safer, smarter choice.

Why? Because no extra fees or taxes, stronger claims protections, state-backed safety nets, and more legal options if something goes wrong.

That waiver you hand to your customers? It’s not the same as insurance.

If you run an equipment rental business (or any business involving customer risk) waivers are a helpful tool. But they don’t replace real coverage.

We’ve seen it more than once. Business owners who assume their rental or liability waiver offers the same protection as a policy.

But bere’s the truth: A waiver is a contract. Not an insurance policy.

It won’t cover injuries.
It won’t protect your fleet.
And it definitely won’t hold up in every legal situation.
