Opened a 529 for the kids’ college? Give it another look this year. As of 2026, you can put up to $20,000 a year per student toward K-12. It now stretches past tuition to things like tutoring and test prep.

Both Kansas and Missouri offer a state tax deduction on contributions, though the amounts differ so it’s important to coordinate with your financial and tax professionals.
