Celebrating Women’s History Month: Prioritize Your Health, Today and Every Day

During Women’s History Month, we honor the strength, resilience and achievements of women who have shaped our world. It’s also a meaningful reminder that caring for ourselves is part of that legacy.

One of the most powerful ways women can support long-term health is by using the preventive benefits included in their group health plan. These screenings and checkups are designed to catch health issues early — when they’re most treatable — and they’re typically covered at no additional cost.

This is especially important during pregnancy. Maternity care, like prenatal visits, screenings, and vaccinations, give moms-to-be the support they need for a healthy pregnancy and a safe delivery. Early care can help identify potential risks, promote wellness and give families peace of mind.

This month, take a moment to invest in you:

* Schedule your annual wellness exam
* Stay current on recommended screenings
* Use your plan’s maternity care if you’re expecting
* Encourage the women in your life to do the same

Women make history every day. Prioritizing your health ensures you’re strong enough to keep leading, inspiring, and shaping the future.

One of our members in Texas recently found himself in a tough spot. He was feeling awful, needed care quickly, and after several calls, he couldn’t find a provider willing to see him. Frustration was creeping in fast.

That’s when he reached out to Allied National.

One of our U.S.-based Advocates picked up his call, listened to his concerns, and helped calm the situation. Instead of letting him struggle through the system alone, she got to work – calling facilities, checking availability and confirming coverage.

Within the hour, she secured him a same-day appointment at an urgent care that accepted his plan and could treat him right away.

What began as a stressful, overwhelming morning ended with relief, answers and quality care.

This is what service means to us at Allied National: real people, real support and real solutions when members need them most.

Care in Action: Supporting Our Members When They Need It Most

Recently, one of our members experienced the heartbreaking loss of a loved one. While navigating the many difficult steps that come with making arrangements, grief and stress became overwhelming.

That’s when Allied National’s vendor Partner — part of our HealthCare Assistant program — reached out. Behavioral health experts connected with her to offer comfort, guidance, and a compassionate ear during an incredibly heavy moment.

She shared how grateful she was to have “free support” during her time of grief, describing the call as “a sign” that helped her move forward when everything felt difficult.

Her words meant so much to us:
“Thank you for listening during a rough time for me. I appreciate all your kind words and helpful ideas.”

At Allied National, caring for our members goes beyond coverage — it’s about being there when life feels toughest.

Care in Action: Resolving Issues Before They Become Burdens

A member recently contacted our customer service team seeking help in understanding a physical therapy bill for her daughter. As our representative reviewed the charges, they noticed several inconsistencies in the provider’s billing.

Rather than simply explaining the bill to the member, our team reached out directly to the provider, investigated the discrepancies, and worked collaboratively to ensure the billing was corrected.

Once resolved, our team followed up with the member to confirm that her balance had been adjusted, and her bill corrected with the provider’s office.

This is what Care in Action looks like at Allied: advocating for our members, resolving issues before they become burdens, and creating meaningful, memorable experiences through genuine service.

Care in Action: Life-Changing Nutrition Support

Sometimes, the most meaningful impact starts with a simple question. A provider recently contacted us about a member’s child who had been diagnosed with obesity. When our Allied National Healthcare Management team reviewed the case, they identified that the child qualified for extra enhanced benefits, including free and personalized one on one nutrition coaching.

Our team proactively reached out to the family to explain the support available and walk them through the next steps. Soon after, a registered dietitian began working directly with the child to help build healthy decision making skills, confidence and long lasting habits. Just as importantly, the dietitian also worked closely with the parent to make sure these healthy choices were supported at home.

The member later shared how thankful she was – not just because the program was free, but because her child now had personal, caring guidance to help them on their health journey.

This is Care in Action:
• Recognizing a need
• Offering real solutions
• Making a meaningful difference for our members and their families

Group health benefit plans support more than just employees — they help protect whole families. During National Children’s Dental Health Month, it’s a great reminder to make the most of your group dental plan’s preventive benefits and keep everyone’s smiles — especially your kids’ smiles — healthy and bright.
