Be sure to use these strategies to keep the chill out of your home:

1. Install a smart thermostat that can adjust your home’s temperature throughout the day.

2. Check that your ceiling fans are running clockwise to push the warmer air down.

3. Put up heavier drapes or curtains to help keep the warm air inside your home.

4. Regularly examine your furnace filter and replace when needed.

5. Keep your ventilation ducts open, and be sure not to block the flow of heat in a room.

6. Use rugs to keep your feet warm throughout the season.

7. Make sure any dampers in your ductwork are open.
