Meet Taylor Sundeen, CFP®, founder and wealth advisor at ClearPath.

Taylor has been an advisor since 2006 and earned his CFP® designation in 2011. He's worked with families from just about every background there is: small-town savers, business owners, Fortune 500 executives. What they tend to have in common is a lifetime of hard work and some uncertainty about how to spend what it produced.

Sixty-two, sixty-seven, or seventy. The Social Security claiming decision is one of the largest financial choices most people make, and a lot of people make it by default.

Claim early and the monthly benefit is permanently reduced. Wait and it grows, up to age 70. Over a long retirement, the gap between those choices can be meaningful. For married couples it compounds further, because one person's claiming decision shapes what the surviving spouse receives for the rest of their life.

Timing is a strategy. Worth treating it like one.

Retirement without obstacles starts with an honest look at the life you want to fund. Once that picture is clear, the planning question becomes answerable: what does it take to support that standard of living, year after year, as things change?

That's the work. Building around the life first, then structuring income, investments and taxes to support it.

We’re easing into fall, but it’s not too early to make some moves that can save you money on next April’s tax return. Wealth Advisor Taylor Sundeen offers some tips for making your next filing season more tax-efficient.

Before December 31, these year-end tax planning moves can lower what high earners owe: tax-loss harvesting, maxing accounts, charitable bunching, and more.

Being independent changes the first question we ask.

There's no home office deciding what gets recommended this quarter. No product quota to hit. Instead of asking which product fits, we start with what you're trying to accomplish, then look for the approach that gets you there efficiently.

Goals first. Solutions second. That order matters more than people realize.

Have you set aside some time this year to think about your charitable giving strategies? If not, don’t wait until the mayhem of the holiday season rolls around.

Whether it’s giving appreciated stock instead of cash, grouping several years of gifts into one, using a donor-advised fund, or directing an IRA distribution to a charity, each strategy changes the tax picture differently, and some only work if they're set up ahead of time.

Plan ahead so more of your generosity lands where you want it to.

More runway means more options.

Tax-loss harvesting, maxing out 401(k) and HSA contributions, timing income and deductions so they land in the year that serves you best, Roth conversion windows—each one has a deadline, and most of them work better when you're not making the call under pressure.

Start the conversation in the fall so you’re not scrambling come December.

Meet Cory Zafke, founder and wealth advisor at ClearPath.

Cory has been in the industry since 2004. He started at a major insurance company, teaching agents and advisors how to build better businesses. Then a life-changing event redirected him. He wanted to spend his career helping people live the life they actually want, so he and Taylor Sundeen founded ClearPath.

The way Cory describes his role: education, encouragement, and expertise. Understand what matters most to a family, then build a ClearPath to Retirement™ around it.
