We often think of auto insurance in terms of if our car is damaged or if we hurt someone else. It's also important to understand the coverage your policy provides to you if an uninsured/hit and run or underinsured motorist injures you.

We like to think think our clients are all great drivers but you can't control the other drivers out there and our claims show it. Our largest auto claims the last several years over $100,000 have almost exclusively been un/under insured coverage claims where our insured was injured by another driver with low or no insurance coverage.

Uninsured Motorists coverage (UM) protects you if your vehicle is hit by a driver without auto insurance, Underinsured Motorists coverage (UIM) applies when the driver who causes the accident has liability insurance.

Attention owners of Kia or Hyundai automobiles. Recently videos have trended on social media demonstrating how to break into these vehicles, creating an increase in thefts across the
country.

Kia and Hyundai are aware of the unfortunate situation and have declared willingness to partner with certain local police departments to provide customers with a steering wheel lock at no
charge. Both manufacturers have combatted the issue with engine immobilizers for model years 2022 and newer.

To learn more about how you can protect your vehicle against theft, we encourage you to reach out to your manufacturer or local police departments. Installation of kill switches that render the vehicle inoperable without a separate key, car alarms with motion detection, or vehicle tracking systems may all help mitigate theft opportunities.
