“When Life Insurance Became Personal”

For a long time, I thought of life insurance as something important — but not urgent. It was one of those things I’d “get around to eventually.” That all changed when we lost my sister-in-law.

Her passing was sudden and devastating. Beyond the emotional pain, our family faced financial challenges we weren’t prepared for — funeral expenses, and uncertainty about how her children’s future needs would be met. Watching my brother in law struggle through that time made me realize how fragile life is, and how important it is to plan for what we can’t predict.

That experience changed everything for me. I no longer see life insurance as just a policy — I see it as a promise. A promise that if something happens, the people we love will have the stability and security they need to move forward.

Now, every time I talk about life insurance, it’s not just numbers and policies — it’s personal. I’ve seen firsthand the difference it can make, and I never want another family to go through what ours did without that safety net.

My journey in the financial industry has been challenging but rewarding. I joined First Financial Security to educate and help others understand how to protect their families—not just to make sales. In our community, there’s a negative stigma around financial services, often seen as a scam or a planning your death. I aim to change that perception by focusing on educating clients about their financial choices, whether it’s life insurance, 401k plans, annuities, savings, investments, or more.

Life agents offer a broad range of financial services, much like how an auto insurance agent can assist with more than just car insurance. It's about understanding your needs and working together to meet them. I’ve personally experienced frustration with agents who were more focused on the sale than on providing helpful answers. That’s part of why I chose to learn financial business myself—so I could better navigate it and help others.

Ultimately, I believe that money plays a central role in our world, and learning about it can lead to financial empowerment and generational wealth.
