What’s the difference between a WATCH and a WARNING for severe weather and tornadoes?

WATCH: Indicates the possibility of or favorable
conditions for severe weather modes. Usually lasts
several hours and covers a large area, sometimes
multiple counties or portions of several states. Be
prepared to take action and remain alert.

WARNING: Either a tornado or severe thunderstorm
has been identified, either by a trained storm spotter
or radar. Usually lasts under an hour, and only
includes a small portion in front of the path of the
storm. If you are in or near the designated area, take
precautions and seek shelter immediately.

Tips for winterizing your home:

Cover your outdoor hoses, pipes, and faucets.
Have your heating system inspected, change filters, and clean vents.
Inspect windows and doors covering any holes with durable caulk or weather stripping.
Trim tree branches away from roof and windows.
Turn off and drain the water from your sprinkler system.
Protect plants and landscaping by relocating or covering with sheets and/or blankets.
