I had the privilege of attending a funeral recently that was preached by my 86-year-old dad.
For as long as I can remember, he's shared what he believes is the secret to longevity: stay mentally and physically active.
His life reflects that advice. Since the early 1990s, he faithfully served churches in a bi-vocational ministry role, preaching, teaching, and investing in the lives of others. He has also raised beef cattle since the early 1970s and continues to do so today.
As we recognize the importance of Alzheimer's awareness, I'm reminded that keeping our minds engaged and our bodies moving can play an important role in healthy aging. My dad's lifelong commitment to staying active, serving others, and remaining engaged with his community is an inspiring example.
Today, I'm especially thankful for ministers, preachers, caregivers, and families who pour into the lives of others every day. Their guidance, compassion, and support make a lasting difference.
Alzheimer's awareness is about more than a disease. It's about honoring memories, supporting families, and encouraging healthy habits that help us live each day to the fullest.
