NOTICE – STATE OF MICHIGAN CRIMINAL RECORDS AND EXPUNGMENT:
SETTING ASIDE CONVICTIONS ACT 213 OF 1965.

The state of Michigan recently passed a law that requires Michigan Courts to expunge certain types of conviction records either 7 or 10 years after the person was convicted of a crime. The law goes into effect in April 2023.

The full extent of the law is outlined in Section 780.621c.

As of April 1, 2023, court personnel will have to first check to make sure that they don’t report to us a record that under the new law must be set aside.

Most court records are still manually operated, hence there will probably be delays.
