Two weeks and I'm already having chili withdrawals!

Two Saturdays ago, I competed in the 43rd Annual Monona Chili Cookoff hosted by Discover Monona, Wisconsin. The goal was to defend our 2025 Crowd Favorite Award but, as often happens in life, things did not go according to plan. My co-cook Michael Ciske - Northwestern Mutual was out of town this year and the temperature of my burner did not want to cooperate.

Even though we didn't win, it was a perfect sunny day sharing about financial planning - my professional passion - as well as my personal passion - cooking chili and meeting members of the community.

Next year, we will be back stronger than ever and hungry to regain the crown!

I think I am in serious trouble!

Last week the The Tasting Room of Monona opened their second location in Waunakee, WI just two blocks from my house so naturally, I had to check it out on their opening night.

Let's just say this could become a very expensive habit. The cocktails were excellent, the cigar bar vibe was incredibly cool, and the atmosphere was exactly what you want for a night out. Great drinks, great people, and only a short walk home.
