⚠️ Storm Safety Reminder ⚠️

As the next round of storms moves in, please stay alert and keep safety first. If you see downed wires or trees/branches on or near power lines, do NOT touch them.

✅ What to do:

Call your power company right away to report any downed wires or equipment damage
Stay at least 10 feet (more if possible) away from downed lines and anything they’re touching
Keep children and pets away from affected areas
If lines are sparking or in the area, wait for professionals
Remember: even if a wire looks “dead,” it can still be energized.

MGE Continues to Restore Service After Storm-Related Outages

MGE crews continue to respond to outages caused by the storms that came through the Madison area on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 10. The storm caused widespread damage and power outages across the Madison area.

Mutual assistance crews have joined MGE this morning. The current forecast indicates the potential for more severe weather–we urge customers to prepare for the possibility of additional storm-related outages.

As of 9 a.m., about 2,500 customers remain impacted by outages. Damage assessment and restoration efforts are ongoing. We thank all our customers for their patience and understanding as our crews work to safely restore service as quickly as possible. Please visit our online outage map at www.mge.com/outage for updates as the situation remains fluid.

Nearly 200 single outage incidents impacted more than 15,000 customers at the peak of the storm. Damage includes broken poles, downed trees and downed power lines.

Public safety is our first priority. We remind everyone to stay clear of damaged areas and never approach a downed power line or anything that comes in contact with it. Always assume a power line is energized and extremely dangerous and stay away. If you see a downed line, please notify MGE immediately by calling (608) 252-7000 or 1-800-245-1125.
