So many great applications, so many great students, yet we had to select only two. The trustees met up in Ripton at Buster's Mountain Retreat and selected two recipients..... from Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, NH: Maria Hendrickson. And from Woodstock Union High School, our Vermont winner was: Aidan Saunders. April is here (as of Wednesday, anyway). 2015 applications due on the 15th. Incidentally, we picked April 15 as the due date sort of because it gives us time to pick recipients before the end of the school year, but also because we think Buster would have liked the irony of having the deadline be tax day! If you are a high school senior in VT or NH, there's still time to apply!

Congratulations to our Vermont scholarship recipient - Caroline Rose of Essex High School! Caroline is the daughter of Ron and Paula Rose of Essex Junction. She is very involved with Relay For Life, KidSafe Collaborative and the Travis Roy Foundation, as well as being active in her church and Captain of the EHS Cross Country Team (though not the fastest runner, she says!). Caroline will be attending Lasell College in the fall, to study Fashion Design and Production. Good Luck, Caroline, and thanks to everyone who applied this year! New Hampshire Winner! Congratulations to Juila Bowman of Woodsville High School! Julia is the daughter of Donald and Francine Bowman. She Has been active in school athletics, music, student council, church and Special Olympics. She plans to attend Salve Regina University to study nursing. Congratulations to Shyanne Millette, one of our early recipients, who will be graduating from New England College this spring with a degree in education. After graduation, Shyanne plans to pursue postgraduate work to become a certified teacher for the deaf. Buster would have been proud to know Shyanne and that he helped her with her education over the past four years.

It's application season again! The 2013 application is now available at participating Vermont and New Hampshire High Schools - check with your guidance office or local Co-op agent to see if they have it, or it can be downloaded from the website (soon). The deadline is April 15 and selection will be in May.

Two weeks to go for applications for the 2012 award! We made the deadline April 15 for two reasons - one, it gives us time to select receipients before graduation time, and two, we think Buster would have appreciated the humor in using the IRS filing deadline, one of the most well-known dates on the calendar - except in this case, we want to give YOU money!
