What to know about financing your Life Insurance

Client’s estates often use some type of insurance as a way of providing the insured and beneficiaries some extra tax-free protection. Some large insurance policies carry high premiums. In this case, Investors may look to premium financing as a way to pay for the premiums without liquidating other assets.
This strategy leverages borrowed capital from a third-party bank, usually in conjunction with collateral, to pay for the high premiums of the insurance product. By doing this, clients can continue to use investment capital to grow their wealth at higher anticipated rates than the financed interest rates. This strategy may also avoid unwanted capital gain tax implications or unwanted portfolio adjustments.
Premium Financing is generally reserved for certain high net worth investors with specific insurance and estate planning needs. This strategy may also imply interest rate risks, qualification risks, and policy earnings risks.
