This can be a great experience for both the contractor and the company. Here is what one HR Benefits Consultant shared after an eight-month engagement:

“I spent eight months supporting a client as an HR Benefits Consultant, and it was a truly positive experience. I initially connected with Melissa Dern while working on an internal requisition at my previous company. When I mentioned I would be leaving that role, she thoughtfully kept me in mind and later reached out about this contract opportunity.

At the client, I supported benefits administration, leave management, and employee inquiries, while also partnering with HR leadership on additional initiatives, including the early stages of a new HRIS implementation. Our Mumbai team turned India's 80th Independence Day into more than a celebration. They spent the day answering one question: what does freedom mean to you at work? The responses, shared under , said more about our culture than any policy statement ever could.

🙋‍♀️ For Shambhavi Rimal, it's hearing "yes" when she raises her hand for something new.

🌱 For Sejal Jain, it's the money plant the firm gave each employee that day, a reminder that people grow the same way plants do, with roots of support and room to reach for the sky.

💭 Pankti Dharod, running her first event as Cultural Committee Co-Chair, called it the freedom to turn ideas into real experiences.

⏩ Arbaz Khan put it simply: the comfort of being himself and keeping moving forward, even after a mistake.

🗣️ Krishna Singh found it in the freedom to ask, "Can we try this differently?"

Recognition is better shared, and our Columbus team got to do plenty of that last week!

Debbie Long, Jane Pfeifer, Ivy Lin, Bethany Whatman, Brad Eberhard, Natosha Carr, Tiffany White and Lisa Wineland started the morning at the Best Places to Work celebration, where our Columbus office was honored, then closed the evening at the Smart 50 Awards recognizing the region's standout leaders.

The nonprofit sector runs on people who do the work whether or not anyone notices. Board members who actually read the financial statements. Volunteers who show up on a Saturday morning in February. Staff who stretch a grant further than anyone should reasonably expect.

National Nonprofit Day gives us a good reason to count something: more than 100 nonprofits and community organizations across Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and beyond that have a CSH associate serving on their board, sitting on their finance committee, or showing up as an active member.

Our associates give this time on their own, and many bring the same financial expertise they use with our not-for-profit clients every day.
