Another impressive result from the collector car market.

RM Sotheby’s second live auction at Tegernsee, held alongside the Concours of Elegance Germany, achieved €10.5 million in total sales with an outstanding 91% sell-through rate.

The top results included:
• Ferrari 599XX Evo – €2.54 million
• Ferrari 812 Competizione – €1.47 million
• Porsche Carrera GT – €1.45 million

Beyond the headline numbers, we think the most interesting statistic is the 91% sell-through rate.

In any auction market, sell-through is one of the clearest indicators of buyer confidence. It suggests demand remains strong for exceptional collector cars, particularly those with rarity, outstanding provenance, and limited production.

The sale also reinforces another trend we’ve been observing:

The market continues to reward the very best examples. Modern halo cars, track-focused Ferraris, limited-production Porsches, and highly original collector cars continue to attract significant interest from buyers around the world.

Collector cars have evolved well beyond a niche enthusiast market. Today, they represent a global alternative asset class with transparent price discovery, increasing institutional attention, and an expanding international collector base.

Results like Tegernsee’s suggest the first half of 2026 has continued that momentum.

The best collector cars aren’t simply appreciating—they’re becoming increasingly difficult to replace. 🏁

The gated shifter is back. 🕹️

For the first time since 2012, Ferrari has introduced a production car with a gated manual shifter.

The new 2027 Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale pairs an 819-hp naturally aspirated V12 with Ferrari’s innovative Manuale by Wire system, combining a clutch pedal and gated shifter with modern dual-clutch performance.

On March 6, 2025, a Ferrari 458 Speciale with 945 miles sold for $752,000.

Yesterday, a Ferrari 458 Speciale sold on Bring a Trailer for $1,129,000.

A new auction record.

For perspective:

You could have bought the earlier car, driven it 3,000 miles, and still theoretically be sitting on more than $350,000 in appreciation based on where the market is today.

The takeaway?

The market continues to place an extraordinary premium on the best naturally aspirated Ferraris ever built.

Some cars depreciate.
