The title insurance industry plays a key role in addressing legal shifts in the housing market, including the removal of discriminatory, race-based covenants. While these restrictive covenants were once common, they are now illegal. However, many still appear in recorded documents. By helping to strike these from official records, the title industry is working to correct past injustices and promote fairness in housing.

Read on as Kent Pelt, VP, Deputy Chief Underwriting Counsel for the Western Region, tackles Restrictive Covenants and Racial Discrimination in Housing.

The title insurance industry often assumes a leadership role in or has a front-row seat to paradigm shifts and legal and regulatory changes impacting the U.S. housing market. One such area in which we are working to make an impact is addressing unlawful covenants that contain race restrictions.

Veterans have played a vital role in shaping our nation, and this day reminds us to show our gratitude for their service and commitment. We reflect on their courage and reaffirm our support for them, not just today, but every day.

Doma Title Insurance was proud to sponsor this year’s ALTA ONE Conference in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida! The stunning Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek served as the perfect backdrop for an exceptional opportunity to connect and collaborate on key industry topics.

Kicking off the Omni Sessions was the dynamic Crystal Washington, CSP, CPAE a Futurist and Technology Strategist. Her high-energy presentation, “The Future is Now: Technology & Trends that will Revolutionize,” captivated attendees. This session stood out as a highlight of the event, igniting conversations around the transformative power of and how AI is reshaping the business landscape.

We were also thrilled to host our own special event — the “Epcot® Theme Park Dinner Spectacular!” Guests boarded an Mears Transportation motorcoach and were whisked away to the enchanting Great Hall of China at Epcot®. The evening featured a captivating performance by an Asian Script Artist, who elegantly wrote our names in Mandarin, adding a personal touch to the experience. To top it all off, we were treated to the breathtaking Luminous: The Symphony of Us Fireworks Show, a perfect conclusion to a memorable night.
