Ottawa County Farm Bureau Vice President Mark Detherage represented our organization at a roundtable discussion this past Tuesday with Congressman and Senate candidate Kevin Hern. It was a valuable opportunity to engage on key agricultural issues, and we appreciate the chance to ensure our local farmers' voices are heard at the federal level.

Late yesterday, U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed the first case of New World screwworm in a bovine in Texas. OKFB President Stacy Simunek issued a statement last night thanking USDA for their vigilance and asking our state's agriculture community to work together to ensure this devastating pest does is contained and eliminated.

It is important to note that New World screwworm does not post a food safety risk to consumers. Read the full statement and find resources at https://okfb.news/nws6-3-26.
