Onions know how to make an entrance: bold, sharp, maybe a little dramatic.
But give them time, heat, and a crispy-edged Detroit-style pizza stage, and suddenly theyβre sweet, golden, and stealing the whole show. π§
β¨
Topped with olives and feta, this pizza is proof that ordinary ingredients can have main-character energy. Happy Detroit-Style Pizza Day! π
Here are the instructions:
1. Caramelize the onions: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.
2. Add onions, salt, pepper, thyme, and honey. Cook 25 to 30 minutes, stirring often. Add garlic for the last 5 minutes.
3. Prep the dough: Oil a 9x13-inch metal pan. Press dough into the pan, rest 15 minutes, then stretch into the corners.
4. Top it: Add mozzarella to the edges, then onions, olives, anchovies if using, and feta.
5. Bake: Bake at 475Β°F for about 20 minutes, until golden, crisp, and bubbly.
6. Finish: Sprinkle with herbs, slice into squares, and serve.
