Your renewal letter is coming, and for a lot of people this year it's going to show a number that stings.

Two things to know before it lands:

One — don't auto-renew on reflex. The plan that fit you last year may not be the best fit for what changed this year. Auto-renewing is how people quietly end up on the wrong plan.

Two — don't cancel in frustration either. That letter shows one plan. It isn't the whole market, and it isn't your final answer.

You can absolutely enroll yourself on the website. Plenty of people do.

What you get with us is someone who catches the things the website doesn't flag — the household member who should have been included, the income entered in the wrong box, the plan that looks cheapest until you find out your doctor isn't in it. And in January, when something goes wrong with your card or your pharmacy, you call us instead of waiting on hold.

It costs you nothing. Not a dollar. We're paid by the insurance companies, and your premium is the same whether you use an agent or not.

So the real question isn't whether you need one. It's why you'd go without. đź’—

Please don't. This is the change almost nobody has heard about, and it's the one that bites in April.

It used to be that if you underestimated your income and received more financial help than you should have, there was a cap on how much you had to pay back at tax time. That cap is gone. Now the full amount comes back.

If you're self-employed, work on commission, drive, do hair, own a small business — anyone whose income moves — this is for you.

The fix is simple and takes one ten-minute phone call: go through it with an agent and estimate carefully, then tell us during the year if things change. That's it. That's the whole protection.

This one matters, and we'd rather you hear it from someone who'll talk it through with you than find out from a letter.

For 2027, the rules about who qualifies for help paying for Marketplace coverage are changing — and some of those changes affect lawfully present immigrants. Depending on your status, the assistance you had this year may not carry over the same way.

We're not going to guess at your situation in a social media post. Every household is different, and the details decide it.

What we will say: don't assume, and don't drop your coverage without talking to someone first. That's the outcome we hate most — a family going uninsured because they figured there was nothing left to try, when there often is.

It's a Tuesday in January. Your card doesn't work at the pharmacy, and the person behind the counter says to call your insurance.

That's the moment people find out what they bought.

Want your enrollment done in one phone call instead of three? Have these ready before you call:

1. Your best guess at 2027 income — for everyone in the household who files with you
2. Names and dates of birth for everyone applying
3. Your current plan info, if you have one
4. Immigration or residency documents, if that applies to anyone on the application

That last one matters more this year than it used to. If anyone in your household has a status you're unsure about, bring it up early — don't wait until you're mid-application.

There's a reason people send us their parents, their neighbors, and their kids when they turn 26.

It isn't because we have plans nobody else has. It's because when you call, a person picks up who speaks your language and will tell you the truth even when the truth is "that plan isn't right for you."

We started here in South Florida and we're still here — but we're licensed well beyond it now. Florida, Texas, Alabama, Nebraska and more. So if you moved, or your kids did, you don't have to start over with a stranger.

We've been doing this long enough to have families we've now covered through three generations.
