I've had two of my clients call me about this mailing they've received this week asking if it's something they need to do something about. It looks pretty official doesn't it? I'm particularly impressed with how they formatted the year in the upper right corner to make it look like it's an IRS form.

It's not. It's simply another tricky marketing tactic designed to give a lot of different insurance agencies your permission to call you incessantly. Time for some Medicare Q&A! Here's a common question I get asked:
Q: Do I need to renew my Medicare plan every year?
A: At the beginning of the year, your Medicare plan renews automatically. BUT it's always smart to review your plan annually to make sure it still suits your needs & make changes if needed. The time to do that is during your Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7.

I just received the infamous scam call saying that my Medicare card has expired and that I will no longer receive my benefits. As you're all aware, I'm not eligible for Medicare yet. Please tell your friends and family that this is 100% a scam. The caller hung up on me when I asked what organization they were calling from. DO NOT give them your Medicare information over the phone. Medicare does not place outbound calls unless you've called 1-800-MEDICARE and they need to follow up with you. Feel free to share this post, if you like.
