One of the many reasons we like St. Tammany is population growth. Do you factor in metrics like this when analyzing a potential investment?

Ikea won't come to New Orleans because the population is too small. The 1.2 million population boasted by economic development teams includes 8 parishes but Orleans & Jefferson populations are declining. The Data Center's latest report has the numbers. The last 3 years, Orleans lost almost 20,000 residents (5%), Jefferson 19,000 (4%) while St. Tammany gained 11,000 (4%).

Want to know why businesses don't come to your area? They count rooftops. Businesses come to where the population is growing. More people means more jobs which results in more office space for places to work, more restaurants and retailers for people to buy stuff, then more warehouses to inventory the stuff you buy.

Smart business owners either weather declines by downsizing so they can live to fight another day, or they expand to where the growth is, and it is not in Orleans or Jefferson parishes.
