Big news from the Louisiana Legislature! House Bill 34, signed into law in 2025, aims to tackle our state’s sky-high auto insurance rates by reforming how medical costs are handled in car accident lawsuits. This new law allows defendants to present evidence of what plaintiffs actually paid for medical bills, rather than inflated billed amounts, to reduce excessive payouts.

Why does this matter? Louisiana’s auto insurance rates are among the nation’s highest, averaging $2,546/year for full coverage. By curbing large medical judgments, HB 34 could help stabilize insurance costs and lower premiums over time.

Insurance has been rough since Hurricane Ida, but things are looking up.

If you own a home a with a roof 5 years old or less, please give me a call. Starting October 1st, I will have three new companies open for business in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes.

In addition, I also have a company opening in Orleans and St. Tammany that does not have a 5 year roof requirement.
