"The next round of lottery registration for the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program opens at 8 a.m. Monday, June 1, and closes at 5 p.m. Friday, June 19:"

Landry said 4,900 homeowners have received grants for roof upgrades since the program began in 2023.

It looks like this year's fortified roof grants will be plussed up. Be sure to have a subscription to the Louisiana Department of Insurance's fortified roof email program to know when the lottery draw sign-up is occurring:

“We can effectively double what we have now,” said Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple.

Yeah, I just don't see how this reasonably works without the diversion project:

It would serve to not only rebuild wetlands that have been disappearing for a century, but also slow storm surge. But there are many complications and uncertainties.

Lafayette is now officially requiring new homes to be built a foot higher than the roadway. Most new homes are already being constructed to this spec, however, there was a trend toward more individual houses to not be at this elevation. My advice..................build higher, build higher, build higher:

New homes built in Lafayette will have to be at least one foot above the roadway. Some local warehouses could soon become gyms.
