IT’S REALLY NOT THAT COOL...

(3 years ago...)Last week, I posted about earning my way into the Million Dollar Club at Costco, but earlier this month, I was reminded why it’s really not that cool.

I had the privilege of attending my annual convention for my business in Financial Services in Las Vegas. One of our top Partners in the company said something that hit me hard and I had this revelation.

She said, “Common Sense Financial will NEVER earn more off of your personal production than you will.”

So immediately I thought of my accomplishment at the j-o-b and realized that Costco now has the opportunity to make another $1 Million off of my personal production and I get paid the same as always. No bonus, no commission, nothing extra, just a pat on the back.

While I am grateful for the opportunity I’ve had for personal growth in reaching this milestone, I also realized where my focus can be better spent.

Helping families build a secure financial future is one of the most fulfilling careers I’ve ever had. Building the dreams of a team as well as my own is far better to me than building the dreams of a corporate CEO.

I’m grateful for all the congratulations I received, but if you also think it’s not that cool to make someone else rich off your hard work, sit down with me and learn about the impact we’re making for families just like yours.

Meanwhile I was ignoring retirement accounts like they were spam calls.

Turns out the expensive part wasn’t coffee… it was waiting 20 years to understand compound growth 😅

I used to think making more money would automatically fix financial stress…

I really thought once you made “good money,”
everything would just feel easier.

And then I met people making six figures
who still felt completely financially stuck.

Which was mildly terrifying honestly.

What dollar amount would make you not feel broke?

🎬 1. Making more money can lower your financial stress… OR increase it.

People assume more income = solved problems.

Most of the time, more money = more problems.

This is because when lifestyle creeps, and you have no strategy, it results in higher spending.

Turns out making more money doesn’t automatically make you good at keeping it 😅

If I could go back and talk to myself
on my first day working at Costco nearly 23 years ago…

I’d tell her a few things.

First—free samples are not a retirement strategy. 🍕🤷‍♀️

Second…
just because a company feels “normal” now
doesn’t mean it’ll stay small forever.

Third...
I never would’ve imagined
Costco stock would one day pass $1,000 a share. 💵💵

And honestly?
that changed the way I look at opportunity completely.

Because sometimes the biggest mistake
isn’t making the wrong move…

it’s not recognizing something early enough.

I’m not making that mistake again.

This cinnamon nut loaf feels oddly symbolic lately 😅

A little sweet…
a little chaotic…
and somehow still trying to hold itself together.

Honestly? Same.

But there’s a difference between being a little “nuts” in the kitchen…
and making emotional decisions with your future.

One makes great bread.
The other usually needs a better plan.

(Some nuts belong in bread. Some do not belong near financial decisions.)
