Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by the recent storms. We know storm damage can be overwhelming, and we want to make sure you know what to do next.

After the storm, remember to:

Put safety first. Stay away from downed power lines, damaged structures, and areas with standing water.

Check your home for damage. Look for roof, siding, window, fence, tree, and water damage.

Take photos and videos. Document damage before making permanent repairs, if it is safe to do so.

Prevent further damage. Make reasonable temporary repairs when possible, and save all receipts.

Keep your records. Save receipts, estimates, photos, and any communication related to the damage.

If you’re experiencing an outage after the storm:
• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible.
• Use flashlights instead of candles when possible.
• Conserve your phone battery for important calls and emergency updates.
• If using a generator, never operate it inside your home, garage, or enclosed area. Keep it outdoors and away from doors and windows to help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Be especially careful around downed power lines and assume they are energized.
• If your water supply has been affected, follow local guidance regarding drinking and cooking water.
• Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may need extra assistance.

Most importantly, don't put yourself at risk trying to inspect or clean up storm damage. Wait until conditions are safe.
