The Fed has decided to leave the federal funds rate unchanged again, staying between 3.5%-3.75%.

While the rate pause was expected, three policymakers voting for a rate hike was not. This signals growing disagreement about how to handle inflation and where rates should go next. The Fed cited global conflict, energy prices, tariffs, and investment in AI as risks that could affect inflation and economic growth in the near future.

While what’s next for the federal funds rate is uncertain, you can rest easy knowing they don’t move in lockstep with mortgage rates.
