HEARTWARMING STORY
Last week, Officer Voth responded to a radio call of a welfare check for a female who was observed walking to the rear of a business on a hot day and sitting down. Officer Voth contacted the woman who was named Jennifer as she was seated in the shade. Officer Voth and Jennifer spoke for several minutes and he learned Jennifer takes the bus to State and Glenwood and walks all the way to Chinden and 30th every day for work (4.5 miles or 1 hour 40 minutes of walking). She has been doing this for the past several months and does this to and from work.

Officer Voth decided to drive Jennifer to State and Glenwood to the bus stop to help give her a ride that day. But first, he decided to make a quick pit stop and went into Walmart. Officer Voth planned to buy Jennifer a bike so she could ride to her job quicker and spend more time with her family. As they walked into the Walmart at 7319 W State St, a manager saw them and asked what was going on. After telling the manager the story, she offered to donate the bike to Jennifer on behalf of Walmart. Officer Voth topped it off by buying Jennifer a helmet and bike light for night. What a great story!

This is just one story of the positive interactions Garden City Police Officers have every day with members of our community. Officer Voth exemplifies the Empathy characteristic of our SERVICE acronym. We are grateful to the Garden City Walmart for their partnership with us and all the community events they do.
