You’re at the potluck, and there it is: the final lemon bar. In Minnesota, taking that last piece is basically a crime.

Instead, we perform the "Passive-Aggressive Slicing Ritual." You cut it in half. Then the next person cuts that in half. Pretty soon, we’re all staring at a microscopic crumb that nobody will touch because "someone else might want it."

If you see a sliver left, just walk away. It's the polite thing to do.

That hail storm was definitely not playing games. Seeing ice the size of tennis balls falling from the sky is a MN experience I think we could all do without!

MN Survival Guide: The 'Ope' Reflex. 🧤

In Minnesota, 'Ope' is more than a sound; it's a way of life. It’s our universal word for 'Excuse me,' 'I'm sorry,' 'I didn't see you there,' and 'I’m about to squeeze past you to get to the Ranch dressing.'

If you haven't said it at least three times while navigating the grocery store aisle, it must be after midnight and you are the only person there besides the cashier. 😂 Also before you say that you never do that it is not actually pronounced how it is spelled it is more like more like hope without the H and a very soft P sound.

Big things are happening in Mendota Heights! The Municipal Campus Project is a huge win for our community's safety and modernization. Our current facilities have served us since 1989, but this new, secure, and accessible hub is exactly what we need for 2026 and beyond.

I love seeing our town grow and evolve to better serve everyone. It’s all about protecting and supporting what makes this place home.
