Mena Bearcat Coaches have selected #5, Tycen Baber, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Week vs Central Arkansas Christian.

Tycen is a Senior, Free Safety / Wide Receiver for the Bearcats and is the son of Jennifer and Nicholas Baber. Last Friday night, Tycen had 12 tackles on defense and 4 receptions for 30 yards on Offense. Despite Tycen’s efforts, Mena came up short against CAC, losing by a final score of 35-21. Tyson is also a member of the Mena Wrestling, Track, and Golf Teams. He came in 3rd in the state in the 120 pd weight class in Wrestling last year and is a 2x State Champion Power lifter in the 123 pd weight class. He competes in the 100 M sprints and is a member of the
relay teams for the Bearcat Track Team.

When he is not in school, Tycen is very active buying and selling items on face book marketplace. He especially enjoys buying and selling tires and wheels for pickup trucks. After graduation, Tycen plans to attend a trade school to become a licensed plumber.

Mena Bearcat Coaches have selected #51, Drake Dodge, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game vs. Mansfield, for Week #2.

Drake is a Senior, Defensive End for the Bearcats, and is the son of Whitley Lepine and Dustin Dodge. Last Friday night, Drake had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery against the Tigers. Despite his efforts, Mena came up short, losing to the 3A Tigers by a final score of 52-35. Drake and his family moved to the Mena area about 5 years ago from the Southern coast of Louisiana. Drake works as an assistant manager at the local Sonic Drive-in after school and on weekends. He said he enjoys weightlifting and hanging out with his friends in his spare time. Drake
said he plans to attend college next year at a 4-year University and pursue a degree in Psychology.

Mena Bearcat Coaches have selected #3, Chance Hughes, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game vs DeQueen for week one.

Chance is a Senior, Strong Safety / Running Back for Mena, and is the son of Ray and Anelise Hughes. On Friday night, Chance rushed for 183 yards and 4 touchdowns, including the game winning TD in a 55-49 overtime win! He also accounted for 9 tackles on defense vs the Leopards. Chance is also a member of the Bearcat Wrestling Team and is a very avid hunter. He operates a lawn care business when not in school. After graduation next May, Chance indicated that he wants to attend UARM and possibly study diesel mechanics.

This week, Chance and the Bearcats will make the short trip North, to face 3A powerhouse, The Mansfield Tigers, who lost to Dardanelle last Friday, by a final score of 55-30.
