$60,000. That circled line is a real closing disclosure from my first-time homebuyers who closed this month.

Not a loan. Not a lender credit. A grant, which means it’s not being paid back.

They got it for one reason. They were informed.

Grants like these aren’t hidden. They are cutting in city, county, and state programs right now. They expire. Some refill. The rules change. And a lot of people don’t hear about it, not because they don’t qualify, but because nobody ever checked for them.

That’s literally my job.

January tends to get people thinking about what they want the year ahead to look like.

I had a conversation this week with someone who thought they had no shot at buying a home.

A family member reached out, struggling with a tough living situation—landlord neglect, job loss, and uncertainty about their future. They called because they knew I was in ministry and asked for prayer. I was honored to pray, share the gospel, and encourage them.

But they also knew I was a mortgage professional, so they asked about homeownership. They longed for a better future but were worried about their background. I was able to reassure them—there is a path forward.

This conversation reminded me of what my mentor, Pastor Arthur Jackson, told me: embrace bivocational ministry—to see the purpose in both my calling and my career.

👉 Ministry. Mortgages. Making a Difference.

I’m grateful to serve people in both their faith and their future homeownership dreams. And that’s a privilege I don’t take lightly.
