Richard “Chris” Ontl, beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet kindness. Born in Memphis, TN, Chris carried with him a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple moments that make life meaningful.
Chris shared his beautiful life with his wife and best friend Shelley, who he met in high school. Together they built a life grounded in love and commitment, raising three children who were the pride of his heart: Jaiden, Kayla, and Ryan. Chris was also a cherished grandfather to Charlotte, who brought him immense joy and whose life will be forever touched by his love.
Chris is survived by his parents, Lynn and Joe Ontl, who instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life, and by his siblings, Terri and Joe, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. He also leaves behind extended family, dear friends, and colleagues who will miss his steady presence and kind spirit.
Professionally, Chris was a dedicated employee of Carty and Company, where he was highly respected for his work, integrity, and kindness. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family, always striving to do right by those around him.
A memorial service honoring Chris’ life will be held on February 15, 2026 at Harmony Church of Bartlett, located at 6740 St. Elmo Road. Visitation will begin at 3pm, followed by the service at 4pm. Friends, family, and co-workers are warmly invited to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
