2024–25 FAFSA® Form Is Available
The 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is now available. Students can complete the form to apply for financial aid to help pay for attendance at college between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Coming Soon: President Biden’s Decision on Debt Cancellation Now Expected in Late Summer
Reports are now indicating that President Joe Biden will be making a decision on student loan debt cancellation through executive authority “later this summer.” While the White House had been previewing its consideration of the move in recent weeks, it is now being reported by The Wall Street Journal that the decision will likely be tied to an announcement concerning the impending expiration of the current pause on loan payments and interest accrual.

A number of large banks are eliminating non-sufficient fund (NSF) fees on checking accounts, cutting total NSF fee volume by about 50%, or $1 billion, annually. Other banks continue to charge these fees. The Bureau is closely scrutinizing whether and when charging these fees may be unlawful.

Don't Forget to Complete the 2021-2022 (FAFSA)!

Students, in order to be considered for federal student aid for the 2021–2022 academic year (Fall Term 2021, Spring Term 2022, and Summer Term 2022) you need to complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov.
Students (and their parents, as appropriate) will report their 2019 income information. Students will be able to import their tax information into the FAFSA form right away using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). The IRS DRT is the fastest, most accurate way to input your tax return information into the FAFSA form.

The UTHSC Financial Literacy Program (Flight), will host their second session on “Financial Wellness” presented by Sallie Mae.

Patti Corjay and Jonathan Looney will discuss “Understanding the Cost of Graduate Student Loans” and “Repaying Your Student Loans.” This presentation covers topics such as understanding the relative cost of a graduate student loan, loan repayment and debt management tools for managing student loans. It identifies important things students should know about their loan portfolio, identifying their servicers and understanding the cost of their student loan.
